The Dub Sector movement has asserted itself as a considerable force within its home turf in St. Louis, Missouri (US) - and is continuing to move forward beyond national borders with their second instalment of digital releases. Local bassweight conjurer REZ having debuted the series with full force, the recently established imprint now welcomes the Dubstep-inclined artist Frequency Dreams to their ranks. With label affiliations such as Version Collective and Subquake Audio, word of his quality output has gotten around - having received support from notable DJ’s and artists alike. Making waves, the talented artist carves his distinctive style out of psychedelic sonic marble, roots drum rhythms and an ever-so-smooth incorporation of Dub elements. With his ‘Vertigo EP’ listeners are met with five foundation tracks, paving their way through to a sound system near you.

Left disoriented and confused in a dense mist, ‘Vertigo’ leaves no fiber untouched as the highly energetic sub-octave onslaught reverberates into your body - kept in check by ferocious drums, executing beautiful push-pull movements through cleverly placed fills, delay twirls or damp echoes. ‘Jah’ in turn is kicked off with solemn Rastafari wisdom emerging out of the musical depths. Vivid percussion keeps your feet skanking as the driving bassline fires up the air around you - topped off with enticing harmonic remnants. Laid-back in its nature, catchy horn
stabs and dubwise chords set the tone for ‘Clouded’, embedded on roots Rub-a-Dub bass in a modern style. Setting an example for intense rhythmic excellence, ‘Backbone’ leaves listeners in the blue, until the madness commences without restraint in a blast of livid groove. Keeping the pace, ‘Gallows’ continues with an entrancing and tribal-esque soundscape, ferociously hurling its profound foundation in your face. Frequency Dreams clearly is on fire, thanks to Dub Sector we’re all able to witness it.
