PREVIEW: soundcloud.com/dub-sector/sets/dub-sector-2019-compilation-dsdcomp2019

Firmly established as one of St. Louis' Dubstep stalwarts, the American sound system music hub Dub Sector proceeds into the latter half of 2019 with thunderous might. Following up on their latest 12" release by none other than Bristol's Chad Dubz, its A&R has been hard at work behind the scenes and is now untethering its first heavyweight long-player, just in time for the upcoming festival season. Encompassing a total of thirteen low-frequency armaments, they invite plenty of new faces to their ranks - including the likes of The Widdler, Dalek One, and SpaceJail. Lighting the fuse, their very own REZ sets us off on a dark path in 'Delinquent' - haunting blows merging with metallic, super-charged percussion and an off-kilter bassline. Coming onto you with a dubbed-out set of vibrations, The Widdler's 'Aliens' throws us into the midst of a supernatural sound system heater, served in his immaculate signature style - massive. Rumble ramps up the energy with his over-the-top 'UFO' - taking you to the far reaches of outer space. Treading through the minimal sound of Kwizma's 'Gravitation' pressure emissions, Dalek One's 'Types of Styles' kicks into overdrive, slaying the dance with glitchy glory. Another no-holdsbarred shutdown, staged by Repulsion, ensues as Lory Kong's experimental soundscape slaps us senseless. Nigia out of Belgium takes us back into the abyss, solely to be pulled out of it once more by SpaceJail's 'Interstellar' - coming at you with unbridled energy. UK's Legend4ry unloads nothing but tons of tribal drums and intricate grooves in 'Deadly Percussionist' only for JWiRE to pick up the pace with melodic sway and elaborate foley effects. Soulful and laid back, Tetrad & Watchmaker's 'Tape Machine' skanks alongside funk-infused harmonies. Wrapping up the release in psychedelic and supremely murderous style, SUDO's ominous 'Joey Diaz Tweets' finishes off the remaining heads - riddled with glitches, distortion and hefty swing.
